You can create a full photo album with thumbnails using the latest
Dreamweaver 8, its excellent for quick albums or even beginners.
(NOTE: You
must have also purchased Fireworks as it uses a batch process in
Fireworks to create the thumbnails and size the images for you)
1. Open Dreamweaver and create and new blank page, making sure you add a page title now and then save it.
2. Now go to Commands at the top of the page and select 'Create Web Photo Album' – A dialog box should now pop up [more]
3. Fill out the dialog box (Its fairly self explanatory)
Title – The Title at the top of the page
Subheading – The heading that appears under your title
Your Source - Where the pics are you want to use
Destination – Where you want the album to be saved
Thumbnail Size – Speaks for itself
Columns – Amount of columns you want for the thumbnails
Thumbnail Format – Either Gif or Jpeg
Photo Format – As above
(I would tick the 'Create navigation pane' option so users can scroll through your large images easily.
4. With everything all filled out, just click on 'OK'… And WOOOSH… Fireworks jumps into action resizing and scaling the images.
5. Once it's finished you should be transferred back to Dreamweaver and just click ok.
6. Now go to your Destination folder that you chose in the dialog box, double click on the index.htm and that's it.
A very nice and easy photo album all done for you by the great Macromedia… Urrr I mean Adobe.
