I was going to write a big blog peice about this but just couldn't arsed so I posted it on cre8asite and did this very quick post but you should get the idea
When
trying to promote your website on the net, you really need to start
thinking outside the box in this day and age... So one out of the box
ideas I had and which will probably cost you nothing or next to nothing
or even a bag of sweets (If you have a kid or nephew who plays online),
is to make use of the online gamers to promote your website.
In this example I'm talking about the Xbox 360 / Xbox Live

There are loads of Xbox live games
now which let the users customize their enviroment, from clothing on
charactors to paint jobs on cars.. I was talking to a friend who plays
the new Forza 2 on the Xbox and he was telling me about paint jobs he
could do, and you can race your cars (With these customised paint jobs)
against other people from all over the world (Are you twigging yet)... So just for fun he came out with this, its for a car club I run but if you think a bit more outside the box - You could put anything on it (Credit to spanks007 for the paint job)
Now this was only done for fun...
But
think about it a bit more, how about putting the URL on the front and
rear of the car! So the users are in a race, and chasing the car in
front... What do they see constantly on the screen - Your URL!
So
lets give you the big picture on numbers, in the latest survey it shows
62% of U.S. Gamers Play Online!! Now thats a big market you really
don't want to miss
